Object: বাক্যের মধ্যে Object হল সেই ব্যক্তি বা বস্তু যা Subject এর কাজের দ্বারা প্রভাবিত হয়। অর্থাৎ Subject যা করে বা Subject এর Action যার উপরে পরে, তাই Object. মনে রাখতে হবে, Transitive Verb এর কেবলমাত্র Object থাকে। বাক্যের মধ্যে Object মূলত Verb এর পর বসে এবং Verb এর Action গ্রহণ/Receive করে। Object is the person or thing receiving the action. An Object is predominantly a noun, a pronoun or even a clause which is affected by the action mentioned in the sentence.
বাক্য মধ্যস্থ Verb কে ‘What?/কী?’ বা ‘Whom?/কাকে?’ দিয়ে প্রশ্ন করলে উত্তররূপে যে ব্যক্তি, বস্তু বা বিষয় পাওয়া যায়তা হল Object বা কর্ম। Noun, Pronoun, Possessive, Objective, Modifier with Noun, Gerund, Infinitive, Clause প্রভৃতি Object রূপে ব্যবহৃত হয়। কিন্তু Pronoun এর Objective Case (me, us, him, her, then, you, it) সর্বদাই Object রূপে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Object মূলত দুই প্রকার: I) Direct Object II) Indirect Object
The answers to the questions ‘what?’ or ‘whom?’ are direct objects. Whereas the answers to the questions ‘to whom?’ or for ‘whom?’ are indirect object.

| My mother loves cooking rice. আমার মা ভাত রান্না করতে ভালোবাসেন। | The cat wants to eat our fish. – বিড়ালটি আমাদের মাছগুলি খেতে চায়। |
Indirect Object: An Indirect Object is the recipient of the direct object. It identifies to whom the action is performed.
Indirect Object হল সেই ব্যক্তি বা বস্তু যার জন্যে ক্রিয়ার কাজ সম্পাদিত হয়। Indirect Object সর্বদাই Direct Object এর উপর নির্ভরশীল কারণ Direct Object এর Receiver রূপে Indirect Object কাজ করে। বাক্য মধ্যস্ত Verb কে “Whom/কাকে” দিয়ে প্রশ্ন করলে যে উত্তর পাওয়া যায়, তা হল Indirect Object. মূলত teach, give, ask, tell, send, grant, show, bring, pass প্রভৃতি Transitive Verb এর পর Indirect Object ব্যবহৃত হয়।

| I have given the room a quick inspection. – দ্রুত আমি কামরাটি পরিদর্শণ করেছি। | Mr. A. Gupta taught us English. – মি. এ. গুপ্ত আমাদের ইংরেজি পড়িয়েছিলেন। |
| Let him have it. – এটি তাকে নিতে দাও। | Who taught you English? – কে আমাদের ইংরেজি পড়িয়েছিলেন? |
| To give him a gun was lunacy. – তাকে বন্দুক দেওয়াটা খ্যাপামি। | Throwing a dirty look at her dog she became angry. – তার কুকুরের দিকে কটু দৃষ্টিতে তাকিয়ে সে ক্রব্ধ হয়েছিল। |
| Did she give John the money? – জনকে সে কি টাকাটা দিয়েছিল? | Let her tell the story. – তাকে গল্পটা বলতে দাও। |
একই Sentence এ Direct Object ও Indirect Object থাকলে Indirect প্রথমে বসে এবং Direct Object পরে বসে। কিন্তু Indirect Object পরে বসালে তার পূর্বে Preposition ’to’ বা ‘for’ বসাতে হয়।
Indirect Object টি যদি লম্বা বা বড় Phrase বা Clause হয়, তাহলে Direct Object এর প্রয়োগ সাধারণত প্রথমে করা হয় এবং (to/for) Preposition প্রয়োগ করে Indirect Objective টি লেখতে হয়। যেমন- The Chief Minister sent massages to all those living in West Bengal.

| He bought me a mobile. – সে আমাকে একটি মুঠোফোন কিনে দিয়েছিল। | He bought a mobile for me. – সে আমার জন্য একটি মুঠোফোন কিনেছিল। |
| John passed his father the Salt. – জন বাবার দিকে লনণপাত্রটি এগিয়ে দিয়েছিল। | John passed the Salt to his father. – জন লবণপাত্রটি বাবাকে এগিয়ে দিল। |
| He gave his writing some spice. – তার লেখায় সে কিছু মশলা দিয়েছিল। | He gave some spice to his writing. – সে কিছু মশলা তার লেখাতে দিয়েছিল। |
| I read her the letter.- আমি চিঠিটি তাকে পড়ে শোনালাম। | I read the letter to her. – চিঠিটি আমি তাকে পড়ে শুনিয়েছিলাম। |
